If you know me, you know I’m not your average Joe.

I am open about how I raise my kids, my faith, my life choices, and I’m not afraid to speak my mind. I do and believe things a lot of people disagree with, but also there are a ton of people who do agree with me and are open about these things themselves, and others that are too afraid to speak out. And I can understand that.

So, how do I openly stick to my guns and live my life and raise my children based on God’s Word and my intuition/gut feelings, without worrying about the feelings of others, during “cancel culture”? (That was a mouthful LOL). Keep reading to find out 😉

2020/2021 have been the years of “cancel culture.” I’m sure you know what that is, but if not, I’ll explain.

According to Wikipedia, cancel culture is a modern form of ostracism in which someone is thrust out of social or professional circles – whether it be online, on social media, or in person. Those who are subject to this ostracism are said to be “cancelled”. Merriam-Webster notes that to “cancel”, as used in this context, means “to stop giving support to that person” while Dictionary.com, in its pop-culture dictionary, defines cancel culture as “withdrawing support for (canceling) public figures and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive.” The expression “cancel culture” has mostly negative connotations and is commonly used in debates on free speech and censorship.

So now that we’ve got that out of the way, lets just get into it…

How am I’m able to express my faith, my opinions, my view on God’s word, and raise my kids the way I, as their mother, knows to be best, without the fear of being “cancelled” for offending anyone?

The short answer, because I live under the kingdom of heaven and not under the rules of this world.

We were not created to abide by the feelings of others and to make sure everyone is comfortable. We were made to serve God and abide by His Word, even if that means it may hurt someone’s feelings or make them uncomfortable.

Because I am under the citizenship of heaven, I live my life in a way that makes God my only influence. I am not influenced by doctors, scientists, influencers, teachers, professors, the president, news channels, circumstances, good news or bad news I only care about what is outlined in His Word.

I will listen to what others have to say and take it all into consideration, but if it doesn’t sit well in my heart and it doesn’t line up with what The Bible says, I wont do it.

With that being said, the only way to achieve true freedom from the bondage of cancel culture and the need to be liked by everyone, is to find Jesus. Everyone needs Jesus. It doesn’t matter what sins you have committed in your life, YOU NEED Jesus, and he’s waiting for you with open arms. There are no ands, ifs, or buts about it. He is real, He is alive, and He is the answer.

Something I heard that was so good from Manuel Johnson of Mega Praise Ministries, was: “be a sheep, not a goat.”

I am a sheep, not a goat. The difference is that sheep eat off of what the Sheppard feeds them, and goats eat everything and anything.

Goats eat what the world feeds them, causing their stomachs to become toxic. I don’t eat what the world feeds me; I do not eat goat food. I eat what the Shepard feeds me (God) (Jesus).

I have a strong, real relationship with God, and KNOWING His Word is true and alive, makes me able to trust my intuition and my gut feelings. I don’t go against what I feel and know to be right, because I am confident in my spirit.

When you truly have Jesus, and you’re actively living your life for the Lord and not just re-posting instagram images to your story once in a while, of scripture that you had no idea existed (do you know what that is? It’s your intuition, your spirit is hungry and it’s desperate to be fed) until you saw that post, you realize that your intuition and gut feelings, is your Holy Spirit. And when you feel like the Holy Spirit is speaking to you, you stop and listen.

So I’m able to be truly me during a time where everyone wants to monitor everyones actions, thoughts and words, and we feel as if we have to tiptoe around people so we don’t hurt feelings… At a time when going against the grain, using your own intuition, and thinking differently than the news and celebrities, that is now totally grounded upon, gets you “cancelled”, and even causes people to lose relationships and friendships and get called horrible names… I remain unaffected during a time such as this, because I know who’s kingdom I’m under.

But again, the only way to achieve this is being under the kingdom of heaven, and not the kingdom of this world. To be influences by God and His Word, and not by man.

We have God inside of us. We freaking have God inside of us!!!! Really think about that… How amazing is that!?!? I have God inside of me, so you think I’m scared or care what you have to say? YOU have God inside of YOU! God is on my side. God is in me now, who can be against me? He has given unto me all things that pertain unto life and godliness. Therefore I am a partaker of His divine nature (2 Cor. 6:16; John 10:10; 2 Peter 1:3,4; Rom. 8:31)

I know God’s Word, and me and my family live by it. “And Joshua said unto all the people [of Israel], … choose you this day whom ye will serve; … but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Josh. 24:2,15)

I’m in good company! Don’t you want to join me?! His Word is true and alive and I KNOW that. You can never shake my faith.

But if you don’t incorporate and truly have God in your life, and don’t put Him first and exercise your faith, I can totally understand how this life is so hard, and wanting to fit in and be accepted is your top priority, and the approval and actions of others is so important to you, and defines your happiness.

Because you don’t have Him. or maybe you do, but you’re not going to Him and thinking of Him first. You’re thinking of the people first, and what they’re going to think of you and say about you on Facebook and Instagram. When you live your life without Him, I can see how you’re influenced by the world.

I tell Lilly all the time that if a bunch of people are doing one thing, it probably means you should be doing the opposite. And when you’re battling with your flesh between what is popular and what is right, you need to give it to Him. You need to stop and go to him first. It’s the only way through life. He is the way.

In the biblical sense, you need to be a sheep, not a goat. Eat what the Shepard is feeding you, not what the world is feeding you. When you eat from the Shepard, you don’t care one bit about what the world is trying to feed you and what it thinks of you.

When you are in tune with your spirit and with God, you realize that He is the only Being and the only Kingdom you want/need to please.

My hope in writing this is that it will reach someone that needs to hear it.

That If you’re like me, you know that you are not crazy, despite how the media tries to perceive us as. There are more of us out here. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY!

Be the person that God created you to be and exercise your faith in Him without fear or shame, spread His Word, and do not stop living by the Word of God. You will see that it is all worth it.
